Dr. Koltko-Rivera holds a professional certificate in strategic foresight from the College of Technology at the University of Houston.

Psychology
Dr. Koltko-Rivera holds a doctoral degree from the Department of Applied Psychology at New York University. At the undergraduate level, he majored in psychology at Haverford College.

His own quantitative research projects include:
- "The Worldview Assessment Instrument (WAI): Development and Validation." Dr. Koltko-Rivera's doctoral dissertation involved the application of factor analysis and other psychometric analysis to data from over 700 participants.
- "The Entry Psychiatric Screen (EPS): A Psychiatric Screening Procedure for Applicants for Military Service." This project, commissioned by the U.S. Office of the Secretary of Defense, involved the application of discriminant analysis and other psychometric analysis to data from over 400 participants.
